FERRATUS PRIVACY POLICY

Ferratus is made by Ferratus LLC. This policy explains what the
Ferratus app does with your information. It is short, because the
app does very little with it.
THE SHORT VERSION
Ferratus stores your data on your phone. We have no server, no
accounts, and we never receive your information. There is no
analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.
WHAT IS STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
When you use Ferratus, the following is saved in the app’s storage
on your phone:
- Your profile: age, sex, height, weight, activity level, training
goal, and your unit and language preferences - Your food logs, saved recipes, and nutrition history
- Your workouts, workout history, and scheduled sessions
- Any injuries or physical limitations you choose to record
- Progress photos you take or select
- A list of barcodes you have scanned, kept so that repeat scans do
not need a network lookup
This stays on your device. It is not uploaded to us, backed up to
us, or shared with anyone.
This data is not encrypted by the app. It is stored using your
phone’s standard app storage, protected by your device’s own
security: your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and the operating
system’s app sandbox. Anyone with unlocked access to your phone
could potentially read it. If your device is backed up to iCloud or
to a computer, this data may be included in that backup, which is
governed by Apple’s terms rather than ours.
PROGRESS PHOTOS
Progress photos are stored in the app’s cache directory on your
device. iOS may delete cache files without warning when storage runs
low, which means progress photos can disappear. Please keep your own
copies of any photo that matters to you.
WHEN THE APP CONNECTS TO THE INTERNET
Ferratus contacts three outside services. In each case only the
specific item being looked up is sent. Your name, age, weight,
goals, injuries, photos, and location are never sent to anyone.

When you search for a food, the search term is sent. Operated by
the U.S. Department of Agriculture. - Open Food Facts (world.openfoodfacts.org)
When you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent. Open
Food Facts is an open, community-run product database. - GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com)
Exercise demonstration images are downloaded from a public
repository.
These services receive your IP address, which is an unavoidable part
of any internet request, and each keeps its own logs under its own
privacy policy. Ferratus does not send them any identifier for you
or for your device.
We do not receive any of this. Ferratus LLC operates no server that
the app communicates with.
WHAT WE DO NOT DO
- No user accounts and no login
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers
- No crash reporting
- No location data. The app never requests location permission.
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone, because we do not
have it
PERMISSIONS
Camera: used only to scan product barcodes, and requested only when
you open the barcode scanner. Ferratus does not photograph or
analyse your meals.
Photo library: used only if you choose to add a progress photo from
your library.
Both are optional. Declining either limits only the related feature.
DELETING YOUR DATA
Because everything is on your device, you control all of it.
In the app: Profile, then Settings, then “Delete all my data”. This
removes everything Ferratus has stored, including cached progress
photos.
Deleting the app from your phone also removes all of it.
We cannot delete your data on your behalf, because we never have it.
CHILDREN
Ferratus is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not
knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under
13. A parent or guardian can remove all stored data using the steps
above.

Ferratus provides general fitness and nutrition information. It is
not medical advice, it is not a medical device, and it is not a
substitute for a qualified professional. Calorie and macronutrient
figures are estimates produced by published formulas. Exercise
suggestions, including any that take account of an injury you have
recorded, are suggestions only. Consult a doctor before beginning
any exercise or nutrition programme, and particularly before
exercising with an injury or medical condition.
DATA SOURCES
Nutrition data from USDA FoodData Central, a public domain dataset
published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Product data from Open Food Facts, used under the Open Database
License (ODbL).
Exercise data from the free-exercise-db project.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the
top. Material changes will also be noted in the app.
